Why Do Some People Look Fake After Plastic Surgery?

Maybe you’ve seen someone with unnaturally large and round boobs on a stick-like body. Or perhaps you’ve encountered a person who could only manage a smirk instead of a full-blown smile after getting Botox’ed to death.

Plastic surgery is a great way to enhance your appearance, but it can also make you lose your natural beauty if not done correctly.

Based on the countless revision surgeries I’ve done, here are the most common reasons why some people look overdone after surgery.

Unrealistic Goals

Many people go to their consultation with photos of celebrities whose look they want to covet. However, patients must understand that these looks can only serve as a reference to what surgeons can achieve.

Each person has different anatomy, making it impossible to achieve that exact celebrity look they want. After all, plastic surgery is an art of beautification, not cloning.

Bad Candidates

Though plastic surgery is considered an investment in yourself, not everyone can qualify for the procedure.

Chronic medical conditions, ongoing medications, and lifestyle factors are on the top of the list of disqualifiers. After all, these factors may greatly affect your healing process and the final outcome of the procedure.

While many plastic surgeons automatically disqualify obese and overweight patients, I make sure that I consider their overall health first before making a decision. High BMI plastic surgery is possible as long as the patient is physically and mentally ready.

Lack of Mental Readiness

Speaking of mental readiness, you have to make sure that you are getting surgery for the right reasons so that you have no regrets after the operation.

While this may not make you look fake, it’s one of the leading causes of dissatisfaction over the results. Remember, your physical appearance is greatly affected by your mental state.

Dissatisfaction

And since we’ve touched base on dissatisfaction already, it’s one of the most common reasons someone might feel like their surgery has left them feeling fake or unnatural.

One of the main culprits is the lack of communication between doctor and patient. Always communicate with your doctor before any procedure to set your expectations and avoid disappointments that may affect how you look and feel after the operation.

Inexperienced Surgeons

If you want to achieve that natural look, make sure to have your procedure done by a board-certified surgeon with tons of experience on the procedure you’re getting.

Most of these doctors already have their signature aesthetic style to make you look and feel natural after healing. It would help to check out their before and after photos to get an idea.
